I personally do not inhale pipe tobacco smoke. I'm not sure that you're even supposed to. I imagine there are plenty of folks out there that are heavy smokers and probably do inhale. I smoked cigarettes for almost 10 years and finally quit in 2004. I don't want to be respiratory impaired ever again from smoking, so I think I'll just stick to the fine taste and minimal nicotine delivery :) Do more people inhale or not inhale?

I don't intentionally inhale. I am sure some trickles in. I know when driving I frequently inhale by accident - I don't know why this happens when driving..I do still smoke cigs so that could be part of it

Push it out through your nose not your lungs. If you can inhale pipe smoke you are one macho man!

I try not to inhale. Some times I catch myself doing it just out of habit. I've yet to meet an English that I can't inhale comfortably though flakes are different. Some yes, some no. However, I stop when I catch myself doing it as the original purpose was to quit inhaling. I like baccy with big nicotine as I can get enough nic without drifting off into mindless inhalation.

No inhalation except by accident. As there are no taste buds in my lungs, I don't want to dilute the flavor of the tobacco by inhaling it and having a bunch of it absorbed by my lungs. I'll take full flavor, thanks.

I do catch myself inhaling sometimes, and it's usually the lighter/milder blends. I guess I try to get a bit more vitamin N out of them, subconsciously thinking that they are not strong enough. Full flavored or stronger blends, no... For example: Five Brothers- NOOOO... Erinmore Mixture- sometimes I do without thinking about it. :)

Aromatics are lung busters...but if I smoked menthol for years, a little smelly aint gonna hurt...as I said, generally the answer is no, but if the N is good, maybe so...

Nice... I try to teach the younger NCOs a thing or two about pride and setting examples. "Do as I Do" is not as common as it once was. :th1:

Nice. I hate to speak for him but hes not on here...

The hardest thing he had to deal with when he retired after 20 years is the fact that Civvy leaders dont follow those ideas...

I inhaled when I first started the pipe, but when the hacking began I realized that was a big mistake. Now very infrequently. Sometimes unintentionally, but once in a great while just to get a little extra N out of the smoke.

I don't. I get a nice nic-hit without. I've been a piper since I was 16, with occasional forays into cigs, before and since I took up the pipe. Inhaling cigs broke me of inhaling any smoke. Didn't take me long to leave them behind.

I never inhale on purpose i quit smoking cigs years ago. i appreciate pipes and not inhaling for the sake of my lungs and also it is not a habit like cigs were but more a hobby i do not find myself craving like cigs. much better in my opinion

Ha, it is the nic receptors not the taste buds that that want to inhale. I've gotten enough control overt the inhaling thing to have lost the morning cough. I can go a few hours without lighting up now. Something that I could not do with cigs. Although, once I light up the pipe, it is in my face for the rest of the day. Waiting as much as two hours for my morning smoke. Unheard of before the pipe.

I'm guessing "snorking" is pushing smoke out through the nose? if so, this is what I do too. I noticed the flovors do come out better and I dont get as much of a tar-y build up taste in my mouth that way. I'm still a new smoker, so I usually get a heavy tar taste in my mouth especially towards the end of a bowl.
