    Hi All,

I've got a Big Ben Royal Silver 343, but my bowl is blocked, I suspect with a broken pipe cleaner. Any ideas how I could unblock it would be appreciated as it's a decent pipe and I want to get some use out of it.

    Cheers

    Stew

I suggest using some alcohol to soften up the gunk around the obstruction (if it is a pipe cleaner). Then straighten out a paper clip and try to (gently) push the blockage out of the way.
There might be other (and better) ways, so I'll be watching to see what else is suggested.

First...is it in the shank or stem? Can you see anything protruding from the draft hole? Did you do this, or inherit the problem?

It was compressed gunk going into bowl. Used sink cleaner solution to loosen it up, and blew through it and dislodged the gunk. Thanks all for your time & suggestions/advice. Much appreciated.

    Sink cleaning solution?!?!?!

I don't think it a good idea to use anything to clean pipes that's not eatable. I would clean that pipe again with something that's not dangerous.

    Hi All,

Some British clown in the papers today is today trying to prove alcohol is more dangerous than heroin; that said I'd flush it out with whisky, whisky and more whisky til I was sure it was safe!

    Best to all

I can't vouch for that, having never tried heroine.
But I have, on occasion, soaked a stem in alcohol and then used canned air to blast the crud out. Make's a horrible mess, thus alcohol is dangerous.
