Hi Guys, i know that most of you can't get easy access to some of our OTC brands.... but believe me, in most of our local shops your lucky if any choice at all.
Any way, One place near me has a small selection... including MB Viginia flake, which i may try subject to your advice.
As you may have seen in other posts i'm working my way along the shelves looking for a taste i really like. If it will help i'll list a couple to show the ones i've liked so far, starting at the best.....
    Players Navy cut
    Ogdens Walnut Flake
    ST Bruno flake

Is MB VF likely to be a runner , or a big no.

Incidently, i tried some Capstone Navy cut and found it like rolling tobacco and don't enjoy smoking it in a pipe.... better in paper!

I haven't tried any of the ones you listed, but I would suggest that you try them all if you can.

MAc Baren Virginias have a sort of light honey taste. They are sweet, but they can also be a little sharp. If you are prone to tongue bite, I'd ignore the MB VF, but if you like to sip at a pipe real slow and are successfully enjoying other virginias..... it's worth a try.

Everything pipe toby related is worth trying. One toby that I might find disgusting (I haven't found it yet) may be what ends up being your favorite! If nothing else, you have a tin to trade away and get something new. So you haven't really lost much, other than the cost of shipping.

I would recomend you try some of the G&H or SG flakes, I find them easily obtainable - if you are not near to a specialist tobacconist, folks like Greens of Leeds or Barbers of Otlley will quickly get it to you!.....I've ordered from Paul at Greens at lunchtime, and received it next morning!

I guess i just going to have to try it aren't i..... not really a problem.... as it comes in a nice sized tin that would be handy anyway.
I have found i really like flakes though, so i'm getting somewhere i suppose.... straight from the tin, folded and stuffed !
Since i slowed down a bit, tongue bight has gone... so not to worried about that..
l'll try the flakes mentioned as soon as i've gone through the local selection, i am keen to try SG FVF and their Brown flake, they sound good enough to eat !

I have a feeling you would like Orlik Golden Slices too! - and they are accessible here.

I think Mac Baren tobies are all pretty good. I'm not such a fan of MacB Vanilla flake, but I've tried many of their other tobies and find them to be very good. Don't really expect any of them to send you skyrocketing into low Earth orbit, but they are all solid and enjoyable smokes - and they're not very expensive, either. They will bite, but only if pushed. Sip them slowly, however, and they really purr.
