Troubling article in USA Today about the annual Pearl Harbor Day ceremonies...... There are so few survivors alive that there is talk of cancelling the ceremony. I, as a Vet, would take up that cause for as long as I could do it..
Thanks OBD for making us look.... and think.... ted

That's a bit like the French saying that since no one alive was there when the Bastille was reclaimed that they should just cancel Bastille day celebrations.

Or like canceling the Boston Pops concert and fireworks on the 4th of July because no one alive remembers Bunker Hill or the Massacre.

I salute the brave men (and women) who fought and died on that fateful day. I'll raise a pipe in honor of them.

You're a man after my own heart, Don Ruffino.

The war certainly turned my dad's world upside down. Nothing was the same afterwards.

I'll enjoy a nice U.S. grown VA in solemn rememberance.

When I was a teenager my best bud's day told us stories of Pearl Harbor. He saw the Arizona get hit and sink. He aided in rescue efforts. He did not get a scratch on him but he saw his fellow sailors die all around him.

    He was a great American.

PS Luxury Navy Flake in my Ben Wade in his honor tonight.

Been smokin' SG NF and SL all day with an inter mission of Wilderness and Gorilla Asscrack Flake thrown inbetween! Smoking SL now. I salute those serving, those who served, and those who have served and passed/fallen.

Why can't everyone smoke a pipe???

Thanks to the greatest generation! My flag flies in your honor.

I got a story for you all.

My younger sister was born this day in 1976. My dad wanted to name her "Pearl". I thought she was so fat we should name her "Harbor". As luck would have it, my mother won this argument and named her Hilary.

Thanks for all the replies and the thoughts. Those men and women had real class, integrity and boundless courage. I wish I had that kind of courage.
