The newest catalog has two Petersons for sale.
    Here's one: http://www.jpeterman.com/Tankard-Pipe

The other is a churchwarden. http://www.jpeterman.com/Churchwarden-Irish-Pipe.

Both descriptions mention Mark Twain, perhaps inevitably. The Tankard writeup advocates pipe smoking. Can mainstream acceptance be far away?

Mine is rustic but isn't yours a smooth black one ?

Those prices appear to be at msrp. Way better deals on those peeps can be had at SP/COJ's btw.

    Great little pocket smokers!

I recently acquired my Great Grandfather's Peterson tankard. Probably my favorite pipe in my collection. I will probably buy another one after the holiday's so I don't have to use his so often. Fantastic pipes, good for a quick smoke. The bowl on mine is smaller than a lot of pipes, which is nice when I don't have time to just sit and read.

No, cannot justify the cost of the ebony. Mine is just the standard smooth.

Burned up two bowls full of Stonehaven today, finishing up bowl #2 right now. Great lil'smoker this Pete Tankard!

The more I run Stonehaven thru this pipe, the more it confirms the dedication of this bowl to this leaf.

Highly recommend the Tankard unless you've got something against lil'bowls!;)

Well I'll be... I always thought J. Peterman was purely Seinfeld fiction. Never realized it was a real catalog.

He is a real person, and the company has been around long before Seinfeld. A very interesting corporate history, and very good gear for the most part. I've had a shirt that has lasted two decades. The catalogue is an interesting read, but it does fall into formula that is easy to parody.
