Well, I did it! I placed a big order today with Pipes&Cigars, and was happily surprised that master blender Russ answered the phone. He was gracious enough to let me pick his brain for a half hour before I ordered. What a tremendously nice man!
    Here's what I'm getting:
Hearth & Home Louisiana Red eight 8 oz.tins
Hearth & Home Classic Burley Kake two 8 oz. tins
Hearth & Home Old Companion two 8 oz. tins
Hearth & Home Rolando's Own four 8 oz. tins
Hearth & Home Magnum Opus 8 oz. bulk
Hearth & Home Mohawk River one 8 oz. tin
Hearth & Home Old Tartan one 8 oz. tin
Hearth & Home Slice o' Gold one 2 oz. tin
    Dorchester one 8 oz. bag
    Dunbar four 8 oz. bags
    Angler's Dream Pipe tub
    Plus free samples!!

Gee, think I'll run out something to smoke any time, soon?

It didn't even occur to me to see how many pounds my order translated to. Thanks for doing that for me!

H&H make some great blends. I took a chance on a couple of them today. Btw, we agree on Dunbar and Dorchester. I already have 3 unopened bags of Dorchester or I'd have bought more.

Nice one. Having a good selection is just downright fun. Standing in front of multiple tobaccos and having one or another just seem to say "Pick me", and accommodating that request is such a generous act.

I took a chance on Angler's Dream Pipe after Russ explained to me how and why he designed the blend. If it's like he sez, I may have found a new light aromatic to smoke. I'll be finding out in a few days and will report on it. I'm going to open the tub as soon as it gets here.

I like Angler's Dream - very much a codger-style burley blend, with just the right touch of cinnamon to it to make it interesting but not overly so. Easy to pack, light, and smoke which makes it perfect for a calm activity like fishing - or just floating in a boat on the water, drowning a few worms, and chatting with a good friend. IMO, it's a step up from Old Companion.

You have to ask for them, which is what I did. Smoking Pipes said they would add some samples when my wife placed a big order with them (a smaller one than the one this thread is about), but they didn't.

Well, I'll have wait on the Angler's Dream because it and six of the eight Louisiana Red tins are on back order. The rest was shipped out today. I hope they remembered to include the samples. :)

Nice haul, Jim! My quick calculations give me 5 or 6 lb, not 13. 16 oz is a pound, right?

Yes, 16 ounces is a pound. But it is 13 pounds. Check the number of tins and bags.
