This bad boy showed up today in surprisingly great shape. I sterilized the stem and cleaned it up with the Walker Briar Works kit. The bowl is reamed down to basically the wood and the shank is clean, there are no ghosts lurking. I think it's going to get smoked tonight!

Ashton Pebble Grain X Billiard. Made in England. Date code 7 (1987?)

Purchased a Grabow/HLT King David pipe on the Bay yesterday. So, this week, I have acquired a Trapwell and a King David. Looking for a Spartan to finish the range of my birth year pipes. The King David must be pretty rare as Ted, our resident Dr. Grabow expert, says he has never seen one. I am looking for another for Ted.

Decided to spend the last of my 'pipe-funds' on a Dr. Grabow Freedom 1812 limited edition pipe.

The last of my 'baccy' funds is going towards a large bag of Hobbits Weed.

Picked up a tub of Half&Half at a local smokeshop.
    Funny place.
Primarily a cigarette shop they do have good selection and prices on import beer so I always get my Guinness here. About 3 months back they stopped allowing smoking in the shop. When I asked why they said it was because the beer customers were complaining about the smoke.

    ?

They, in their words, "make pennies on tobacco but dollars on beer" so.....

Picked up a nice pre-trans Barling Canadian from Mel Feldman at the CORPS show and an old Wilke bent on that auction site this week. Both are nice smokers.

My small-bowl vintage Medico churchwarden went belly-up this week - cracked bowl. I acquired it second-hand and I'm not sure it was treated/cleaned/stored kindly by its previous owner. Anyways, I have another bent Medico, akin to a Lancer I think, but with a beautifully finished rosy-coloured bowl in a comfy "squeezed" hourglass shape. I love everything about it except the stem (bit is too small), which happens to be the same size fitting as the churchwarden. Hey presto, I swapped out the stems, threw away the cracked bowl and the small stem, and now I have a perfectly beautiful churchwarden, which smokes like a dream and has an incredibly comfy shape. And I'm one less pipe than I had a day ago.

So today I ordered a Dr. Grabow Omega, smooth finish. Can't wait to give it a try.

Aaaaaand just ordered an MM Country Gentleman. 10$ for a quality bent cob, by all reports. I have a straight-stem MM but I prefer bent cobs for clenching. Cob is my "anything and everything" pipe.

Ebay seller says they are from the 70's or 80's, no date codes on the tins.... I know I like the Dark Twist, I've never tried the Mixture. The Australian Shepherd approves.

Went on a little field trip today to two B&Ms to help my brother pick out a Nording freehand churchwarden. Found a beautiful pipe at The Golden Leaf in Minneapolis, while there I also picked up a couple oz. of their Powderhorn blend, a beautiful aromatic. Smoked a bowl in my cob this on the walk back to the car and really enjoyed it.

At the other store, Tobacco Grove, I picked up a pair of Softy Bits for my MM, as well as some Savinelli balsa filters. I was also given a 1oz sample of Newminster No. 17 "English Luxus" which seems very pleasant. Excited to explore both blends further.

I inquired at both locations about Frog Morton but none was to be had. Tobacco Grove told me they'd be ordering it in, however. I've heard too many good things about that blend and I'm itching to try it.

And lastly, I arrived home to find my Grabow Omega Smooth waiting for me in the mailbox. Tonight I'll start breaking it in with some Boswell's Raspberry Cream :byg: And my brother can join in the fun with his new Nording!

Two thousand pipe cleaners. I got sick of running out so thought I'd get a few extras so I can have a reserve...

Just pack-ratting things away. Well, not the Sam's Flake, I'm gonna smoke that one right away. Never had it before, so we'll see how I like it.

Just won a Savinelli Oscar panel off eBay. About $15 with shipping. The seller didn't do his research and neglected to include Savinelli in the description, which cut down on views and bidding (my bid was the second one). Second Sav I've picked up on the cheap that way. Asymmetrical information, y'all.
