Just wondering about the different pipe shapes cause pipe making became one of my hobby not long ago. Here is my 2nd pipe I ever made.. It ended up looking like that (square) cause I made some bad cuts lol Making a pipe from just a saw, carving knife and sand papers were hard... still is I should get some tools..

Should smoke fine -- the outside shape is functionally unimportant, imo. Aesthetically, that's a different story!

I'm not sure which forum I saw it on, but one guy had just purchased a meerschaum pipe which looked like a long rope of meer twisted into a knot. It was the most unique shape I had ever seen.

I have a few oddballs in my collection, but I really like these double chamber pipes:

One of these days I will order one of these. The guy who makes them is as cool as they come.

They are even better in person, and are built to last.

Not a pipe, but the thing on his homepage, the Epsidon Eridanni Skitter, is really cool. I might need that. -David

If this is only your 2nd pipe and you only have rudimentary tools then I really want to see what you can do when you get all your tools.

Wow, those double-chamber pipes are far out! Never seen anything quite like 'em before.

Is the shank on those like an expansion chamber for the smoke to swirl around and cool in? He sounds pretty cool reading his comments at the bottom of the pipe page.

Looks like the thing that they were sticking their arms in to see if they were pure of heart in the movie Flash Gordon lol.
