The 4noggins order has arrived and my pipe tobacco fast is now over.

Billy Budd, Old Joe Krantz, and Ten Russians. I shall be lost in a cloud of smoke, starting now.

I can't think of a better place to be than in a cloud of smoke.

Fasting is overrated. Overindulge yourself, who deserves it more I ask

Yes, fasting is vastly over rated, especially the unintentional sort. Tonight I will watch Master and Commander Far Side of the World again. Accompanied by a small mug of rum and either Billy Budd or Ten Russians, I've not decided which, yet. Time travel.

Did the fascist Canadian Postal system tax the crap out of your order?

Fascism is something else entirely but to answer the question, no, it slipped through and arrived at my door without customs or tax issues. It is a crap shoot regarding what customs may or may not snag. Canadian retailers tend to put really high mark ups on things. Even if I do have to pay customs the price will be at least fifteen percent less than retail and minus the 12 percent provincial sales tax. I had assumed duties were much higher than they are because our prices are so high duty is much less than I thought while the mark up is much higher than I thought.

I know it costs more to run a B&M store and you expect higher prices (and better service) but there are limits to what your customers will tolerate before finding other sources.

On a completely different note, much to my surprise I have yet to get into the Ten Russians or the Billy Budd. I'm still stuck in the Old Joe Krantz bag. I Love this stuff. I've been smoking it since Wed. afternoon. it would appear that I like burley, a lot. I keep eyeing the 10 Ruskies tins but so far I've no desire to set the OJK aside. I did not expect to like this one so much.

Glad to hear you got some good tobacco. Many of the retailers do the same thing here in Texas. Texas has a killer tobacco tax, but that only acounts for part of the issue. The B&M's that are still in business are still here because they don't gauge - that, and they make most of their money off cigars.

Another OJK lover! Can't believe how quickly I burned through an 8oz. tin of it. There will be at least a pound in my next order. Oh, and I like the Billy Budd, too. Have yet to try 10 Russians.
