Just arrived is my Mountbatten Canadian (Charatan 2nd). Appears to maybe have had one bowl smoked thru it, zero teeth chatter on the stem but some light oxidation on the vulcanite. The rim and part way down the bowl is spotless. There is a very minor die defect where the bowl meets the shaft. Nomenclature is crisp & clear and reads "Mountbatten Made in England"..."849". Some great history on Charatan at pipedia. Will be loading & smoking this afternoon!

Thanks, it's darker (and more attractive) than the flash from the photo shows. The wife & I will be having lunch out a little later, then I'll probably load her up with some Wilderness or London Mixture (the pipe of course!)

Hey, I've had a Canadian before! Also have two Canadian style pipes (har har)

It's among my favorite shapes. Nothing beats the classic, functional yet elegant simplicity of the Canadian, billiard, or lovat in my book.

Of course lumbermen and Liverpools are okay. And bulldogs are also pretty neat. And apples and acorns. I'm liking bent brandies a little more lately, and Danish freehands can be pretty neat. I think Oom Pauls are really good looking pipes, and don't get me started on the calabash....and then theres the.....

nevermind. Still, Canadians are among my favorites, and that's a nice one!
