My sms meer has arrived, it came clean as I ran a cleaner thru it & it came out white. All I had to do was sterilize the mouthpiece with a little whiskey. It's got the original case with an old sticker that says $75.00 (got it for $30 on ebay). There is paperwork with it that dates it from the early 70's. It was a fantastic smoke & looking forward to the next bowl !! (now considering another meer in my line-up as the obsession continues..)

Good looking meer. Be warned, the white goddess is now taking hold of you.

Thanks dm, read several threads on the quality of the smoking experience, was lucky to get a good one right off the bat. You've got 42...!....I'm sure I can make room for a couple more:D

The meerschaum collections of Fred Bass and Ben Rapaport make me look like a piker! The same goes for their meerschaum knowledge. I am but a rookie. It's been fun learning, though. And definitely fun smoking! :th1:

That is a beautiful pipe, I am also being tempted by the temptress quite frequently, what I am scared of is that is sounds like its hard to know if you will get a good smoker or not. I suppose if I went with an SMS or IMP or one of the bigger brands, it would be a little safer bet. Thanks for sharing the pic and the experience!

That *is* a sweet little meerschaum....congratulations on a grand smoker.
You now find yourself on the threshold. Take the next step...surrender yourself to the White Goddess. resistance is futile!
Like DMK, I've pretty much given myself over to her wiles. There are 35 meerschaums in my stable, and I'm always looking for "just one more". IMO, they smoke smoother and clearer than any other pipe medium available.

I'll still love my briars, but that was the first thing I noticed with the meer was the smoothness & clear notes coming thru....sweeeet!

Unfortunately for me, #'s 43 and 44 are just around the corner... another Yanik and a calabash. I guess that screws up my karma? :D

Nope, but I just got a digital camera from one of the finest individuals it's been my pleasure to know and I will post some pics here eventually. Probably one at a time, though. Meerschaums should be seen and admired up close and personally. First one up is an old Baki that is carved to look like an old Tyrolean porcelain pipe... deep, tall bowl with a metal windcap. Killer pipe! Great smoker and awesome looks.

Enjoy that SMS! They've been around for a very long time. They and CAO have probably made half the meerschaum pipes currently in existence.
