My very first hand made pipes

    Here are my own pipes that I made. Keep in mind that I have zero back ground in any kind of wood work..(I'm a photographer:) ) tools I used are like I said in other thread, carving knife, saw, and some sand papers.. I would like to get some hand drill so I can properly wax my pipes :(
    I will post more as I make. Any tips and such in terms of making pipes are all ways welcome!

    That's fantastic, especially for your first go! I've thought about having a go, and if they turned out that good I'd be stoked

    I like the look of that squareish one you posted up the other day. Did you start with one of those pre drilled kits they look great.

    I've been wanting to try one of those for a year or so now, i might have to bite the bullet and get one. Thanks.

    haha yeah give it try. In my experience the grains are hit or miss. Some has amazing grains for how much it was and some might have cracks in the middle. Also if you dont have many tools get ready to give lots of elbow grease.

    I have carving duck decoys for over 30 years but have never tried a pipe. From all of the discussion here I think I will give it a go.

    I bet you could carve a nice duck decoy into a nice pipe holder. :)

    Nice looking pipes. Happy smoking! The homers are pretty rewarding smokers, IMO.
