I got my accidental ebay purchase in the mail today.
No markings on the pipe that I can see. It has a 4 hole stinger and the Kaywoodie clover.

I am going to start cleaning this up and will post pics when I am done. Looks like there may be some nice grain under all the grime.
Any Kaywoodie experts out there know what pipe this is just by looking?

Cleaning revealed faint markings. It' a Super Grain 86B. No idea what the age is. When did they make the 4 hole stingers?

Not a fill or pit anywhere on this pipe. Looks like it will be a great smoker.

Looks good. Is that a mark on your ring finger from a recently removed ring? :bag: maybe I should not be asking..

Good eye. The mark on the finger is a lesson to all foolish young people. GETTING TATTOOED RINGS IS A BAD IDEA. Laser tattoo removal hurts. And it takes many sessions.

Also one should not tattoo a girls name on your buttock in large solid black letters. The coverup has to be huge.:whis:

You just saved me from making a terrible mistake. I just hope Alexandria won't be too disappointed.

The four hole stingers date from the 30s until the early 50s. Four digit model numbers ended in '37, so you most likely have a WWII-vintage pipe on your hands.

Agreed that it’s a 1940's vintage. Looking through old catalogs I would say it MAY be a 1947. The manufacture retail price for a Supergrain would have been $5. Here is a copy of the catalog photo. The 86B is the bottom pipe.

That's the one right there on the bottom. Thanks Pappy.

I was wondering when I cleaned the pipe if I was removing half a century of somebodies nose oil.
