I've been hitting eBay as of late, and came across this Medico. It's a Magnet Top Rhodesian that the pics don't really do justice. The grain pattern on this thing is nuts. It goes from a sweeping flame type grain, to incredible bird's eye, to a great horizontal grain. For less than $12, I think I did okay.:)

I believe it was originally for a wind cap or something to that effect.

Nice. It would be really cool if you could find a windcap that works.

In a related note, I saw where Aristocob is selling (presumably retrofitted) cob pipes with rare earth magnets in the bottom of the bowl, so you can use any metal surface as a pipe rack. Probably great for ironworkers on tall structures... ;)

Nice job. I sent my check to the address on the back of a box of Medico pipe filters to get a Medico pipe, but I have yet to receive anything. Yours looks great.

Interesting little pipe, with the magnets in the rim. I would imagine that any piece of ferrous metal would make a cap that would keep the tobacco in, not necessarily a wind cap.
