The 1965 Dunhills I've seen are either over $200 used, not a shape that's appealing to me, or crazy high if new (like this one). This particular one is gorgeous, but good grief on the price.

It's a beautiful pipe for sure. That straight grain is just amazing, but $6K?? Seriously? Ridiculousness abounds...:thdn:

I've never been much of a brand snob anyway, but that is just laughable. Don't give up on your quest though, someday a birth year dunnie will come along too good to pass up!

It isn't new, it's a used pipe. A new one that good runs slightly over $1000. Don't believe the hype that the old Dunhills were better than their current pipes. They were not.

Well now you have your goal, manage to hide 3 grand from the wife and discreetly order increasingly large amounts of tobacco.... if you need somewhere to store it I have plenty of space available

I recently had the great pleasure of being allowed to view the 2012 Dunhill catalog along with a price sheet---If you think $6000.00 is a lot--well a Dunhill Dr-"G", or an "H" is not only rare but WOW--just WOW. Also metal bands, and such------------WWWAAAYYY out of my league brothers, and sisters.

Yeah, forget about DR's. Not even close to being worth it.

You'll get one, man, I know you will. You have a Rad, which, without being personal or anything, surely cost more than what you can find a '65 Dunhill for. I got a killer deal on a '62 Shell from Nathan at Viking Club Pipes just a couple weeks ago, and it's an incredible pipe. Believe me when I say that Dunhills from the hand made era (which safely includes '65) are great pipes. This '62 I got has really shown me the reason Dunhill earned such a reputation. They are worth it, absolutely. Keep at it man, you'll find one!

Keep at it, you'll get your birthyear pipe eventually.

I got outbid by somebody who had deeper pockets than me a few weeks ago - 1970 Dunhill Shell Briar bent billiard. Then just this past week, I was the only bidder on a 1970 Root Briar Bent Billiard. Fabulous grain and one of my favorite shapes.

It will join the 1942 Dunhill I just got off of Nathan as well - my Mom and Dad's birthyear pipe!

Now I'm just deciding in the future, what years to add to them - my wifes birthyear, the year we were married or when my kids come along, their birthyear. Seems like some endless possibilites.

    Have fun with your search!

    All the best, Carl

Been watching for a 1954 Dunhill. Only found one about a month ago and the bidding ended while I was at work. Needless to say, I was overbid. One of these days we'll get lucky.

That's a really beautiful pipe, but I can't fathom that price! :startl:
