SWR in a Doc Grabow with some hazelnut espresso. Great pairing. Wish I could get into SWRAro as much as I like plain SWR

McCranie Red Flake in a favorite old Jobey. I've never known what to call the shape of this pipe, so I just now (after 30 years smoking it) finally got busy looking for a clue, and found this Jobey flyer: http://pipepages.com/job10.htm

My pipe seems to be the one in the lower-left corner, #160, "author saddle." Awesome, good-smoking pipe. I had a second one that I let a friend talk me out of, but he never smokes it, so negotiations are under way.

Actually, that pipe is very similar in shape to the Sav Dry System 2320 that I'm smoking right now, except that the Sav has the military mount common to the Dry System line. Speaking of which...
Escudo in the aforementioned 2320. We were coming over to the mom-in-law's house, and being in a hurry, I folded and stuffed two coins and put it on the pipe bag. Smoking like a champ. It's official, now: this pipe and this tobacco are now married. Congrats to the happy couple.

Congratulations! Playing matchmaker in our little corner of the universe can be quite gratifying...to us, huh, Herb? :)

Busy, busy couple of days. Oy. Now sneaking some Sunday Picnic in a Mastro de Paja bent dublin. Drinking a Dog Bite (10% alc.) tall boy on the side. My only regret is that this beer is only 10%...

Yeah, Kyle, I have pipes that are dedicated to different styles like anybody, but this is really only the second pipe I've dedicated to one blend. I like Escudo in general, but it really seems to sing in this pipe. By the way, I'm using the converter tube rather than the filters, if anyone cares.

DGT-ing the Escudo now. Too long a smoke to finish at Pat's house.

I like to mix SWR or CH with Sugar Barrel. You can also try some McC Navy Cavendish if you have some around. Another tasty combo.

Just finished a bowl of straight Black Cav for dessert in a Ozark Cherry

Peterson Summertime 2010, a sort of melon-flavored semi-aromatic, I suppose -- nice on a hot summer's day -- in one of my Willmers.
