Squadron Leader in a Lewis Armadillo... woot...
Naw! .... It's a chap called Jack Hargreaves, he was an Author and TV presenter. He had a countryside TV show called 'Out of Town' , very non PC by todays standards , as he would smoke his pipe all through the show.
His love of the country inspired me to take up shooting and fishing.
He died some years ago, but i still go shooting and fishing and now smoke a pipe..... all his fault
I don't mind really, just glad one of them smokes it ok...... for some reason my favourite pipe , a Peterson 317 standard system , just doesn't bring out any flavour with this particular brand.
May have to give it a deep clean tomorrow.... or a sloosh round with some Scotch..... hell, i'll start on the Scotch now

Samuel Gawith Commonwealth in a Randy Wiley
I bought an ounce of Star of the East a while ago, smoked it a few times, and then left it at that. I've had it laying around a while and I'm up late and hankering for a smoke so I figured a 50% Latakia blend ought to make a hell of a nightcap.
Just lit up, nice and rich, not nearly as overwhelming a lat bomb as one would expect though. Pretty mellow latakia in this mix I guess, it's very well balanced while still being extremely smokey.
Five Bros. in a DWaugh puppy mill claydog. I am totally enamored with this little pipe!!! I'm actually smoking my third consecutive bowl in about the last 90 minutes...each time, this pipe has delivered! My 'kudos' to David for upping the ante with this one here!
Marlin Flake in a Castello shape 56 Bulldog.
A mix of McClelland Just Plain Nut with Mac Baren Vanilla Creme in a Firex billiard. Surprisingly good.

G.L. Pease's Union Square in the Ben Wade billiard. First time trying this blend....so far, I like it a lot!
Drop a review when you can; I've been looking at that one too.
First impression: a deeper, heavier flavor than the VA blends I've been smoking so far. For a frame of reference, McClelland Mature Virginia No. 27, Christmas Cheer 2010, Orlik Golden Sliced, PS LNF, McClelland 2045 Dark Navy Flake have all been smoked recently. If I had to compare this to these, I'd say it's flavor is closest to Orlik, but more full bodied and a little sweeter.
The flake is easy to work with, not too dense, not too broken in the tin. I'm getting a spice to this, as well as a honey graham cracker type sweet note. There is some mild dried fruit (date, fig) in the background. It also offers a bit more strength than most of the VA blends I'm used to. Quite a nice change of pace!
This is not a review proper, just my first impressions. FWIW I believe the last tobacco smoked in this pipe was Ferndown Yellow & Brown, so it may be slightly altering the flavor
PS LNF in a Medico pot. The cat is keeping me company.
Just a little earlier it was Golden Glow in
the beat up Falcon.
Union Square is a nice, straight forward
VA. Plus it cellars quite well. FWIW.
