So I just got a tin of old ironsides in the mail today. I eagerly packed my cob and began to puff away. This stuff is amazing! I bought the unopened tin on eBay. At the time the guy had 3 available. I figured i would try it and if I liked it I would buy the other 2 (buy it now 12.50). Now he is out and I can't find anyplace that sells it. Is this discontinued? Anyone know of someone who sells it?

4noggins has it. What's it like I'm interested in trying it. Might grab a tin next order.

4noggins is out of stock. I'm finding a lot of sites that list it, but they are all out of stock.

Fear not! The CAO/Dan version of Old Ironsides is discontinued, yes, BUT, and it's important, that whole line was recently picked up by someone else, and the three Budweisers I just chugged are preventing me from remembering who. But those will be available again shortly.

Meanwhile, if you like your latakia in 500 pound bomb strength, you can hunt out a little Commonwealth from Gawith (tough to find), hit some Cooper from Low Country (Smokingpipes.com), Penzance (again can be spotty to find) from Esoterica, or just buy some blending latakia from 4noggins and add a handful to some British Woods or something....

But Cooper is enough like Ironsides to stand in, almost.

Budweisers? I thought I had respect for you.

It's distinctly out of character, I assure you, but I was thirsty as hell and needed something cold and cheap after work.

Thanks for the info. And just to throw my hat into the ring (as for beer) the brew I'm enjoying right now can't be beat. Of course I am talking about Sam Adams octoberfest which goes splendidly well with old ironsides! Ahh, fall feels like it is finally here. Unfortunately in Ohio, fall only lasts for two weeks.

As far as Adamses go, that one certainly is spectacular!

    Ohhh Phil....that was cold....and cheap!

Old Ironsides (CAO/Dan) was a great blend...was sorry to see it go. Have not had the "new and reconstituted" version. Would be nice if it matched up to the original in body and flavor.

The new is pretty much the old. It's still CAO/DAN stuff, just listed by Dan now. The flakes seem to be a bit drier in the new, but it's still a smoky sweet lat bomb of the first order.

    A little update on this..
Monday morning I opened my second "new" tin, and I don't like what I see. It doesn't LOOK like OI, and it sure as hell doesn't SMELL like OI. I haven't had a chance to smoke it yet, so more to come. Hopefully I didn't get an Old Ironsides tin that contains Patriot Flake.....
