can anyone comment on Park Lane Bengal? It is reported to be a close approximation of bengal slices as is Fusilier's Ration. I'm looking for FR in bulk but it only comes in 2 oz tins. PLB comes in bulk.

I like both. The PL Bengal is heavier and earthier, not as complex as FR.

Sean L. at pipesandcigars.com advised me that Fusilier's Ration will be available in larger tins, hopefully by the summer. I have just over a 2 oz tin left so I will be on the lookout!

Les, is the Park Lane stuff a flake, broken flake?

jp - my sample and 1 lb bulk were not full flakes - pretty well rubbed out I guess. The FR is a chunky crumble cake. I suppose it comes from a solid block to begin with, like Ten to Midnight.

P&C passed out samples during the release of FR. I got a small sample and wasn't impressed. Then tried Lancers Slices, which are said to be like old Bengal, and the slices were good. Good lat taste and was a full mouth taste for me. Tad wet and needs a bit of time. Smokingpipes has had it rather cheap.

Haven't tried the FR yet - been let down too often in the past with some of the P&C blends. But the Bengal is excellent IMO. Very full and earthy with just enough floral topping. Very tasty indeed! :)

If anyone with some FR who's interested in tasting the Bengal can PM me and we'll do a wee swap...
