petersons irish oak...second time round.

    hey fellas hope your all well.

    So a few days ago i tried the pretersons irish oak snake sent me and one of the things i noticed is that i could get warm and bite if it was rushed.

    tried again today and packed a little tighter, and the it was a whole different world.
    The tastes were in abundance, it never once bit or even got overly warm.
    It was a totally different smoke and something that was thoroughly enjoyable and perfect for a freezing winter day.
    And the best thing is i was doing some paper work while smoking and had to relight a few times but it tasted just as good re lit as it did freshly lit.
    This is an absolute winner all round, i will deffinitely be investing in a tin in the future.

    (its actually knocked the long standing favourite of louisiana flake off its top spot ....shock horror)

    It tastes good but I find it way too strong. I'm a wimp!

    Same here, good flavor but a horse kick to the head for me.

    Does any one know how much, if any, it mellows with age?

    I love the stuff, and I'm a nic fiend, so it really satisfies in that department as well!

    Are you thinking Irish Oak or Irish Flake?
    Irish Flake is a great smoke but it's wicked strong. Irish Oak definitely has some nicotine, but it's more of a solid medium strength IMO.

    Interesting sas i found it had nicotine but more of a gentle gradual release are you maybe getting mixed up with irish flake the irish flake is virginia burley black cavendish and perique

    I don't smoke C&D Burley flakes, even though I enjoy their flavor because they have so much nicotene content. I don't find Irish Oak to have anywhere near that amount. I'm with you... a medium strength nic kick.

    Looks like it's a great day for Peterson here on PSF ( and that's gotta be a good thing :cool: ). First Irish Flake and now Irish Oak...two favourites there alright. Now hows about a round for University Flake? :poke:

    its amazing stuff its going to be one of them tobaccos that will be a rare treat so i can actually look foreward and enjoy it to the max :D

    Irish Oak. Green tin, sherry cask va/per. Too strong for me in quantity. Irish Flake is stronger, and I can't smoke it at all.

    oh, oh well different strokes for different folks, thats nothing compared to a house vaper i tried a few months ago......30% perique content

    I had a tin of it awhile back. I tried it a couple times over the course of a weekend and just couldn't stay with it. I ended up trading it and got a HUGE sampler in return - Thanks Mr. Vig!!! I will stick with the Navy Flake and be happy for the chance.
