Finding pipe collecting very addictive, find myself trolling eBay looking at estate pipes. I have even branched out to pipe tobacco tins !!!. Is this normal i find myself asking :bing:

Totally normal. Then in a few years, you'll sell off those pipes looking for money to buy commisioned pieces.

... and then one day you start looking for great tobacco to fill all those pipes... PAD and TAD lead to each other. :ohyh:

Same affliction here. I've spent a lot of money weeding through estate pipes. And like Capt said, you end up selling them off or giving them away for a faster pussycat.

If I could say anything helpful that might save you some time and a lot of money, I'd recommend getting a few decent briar's, a couple of clay's, a meerschaum, and a few cobs. Then concentrate all the rest on a tobacco cellar. I'd be far better of these days had I listened to that advice early on.

Also normal is the pain of giving away or selling your once precious pipes to get the "next one."

I had over a 100 briars this time last year.
Now I have about 30. They're mostly much better pipes. But I ain't anywhere near done ;-)

Yea, I got no money and a whole bunch of pipes and some tampers on my ebay watch list. Totally normal, it's only an addiction when you stop paying bills and/or buying food, I have never done this...

One of the great things about this hobby is you can build a solid collection at a price point that makes sense to you. Find something you love and that you can afford and build on it. eBay is a 24/7 pipe show, have a focus, even a loose one can help you from just buying this and that, be picky be very picky, search every day and network with others who can help you find your next great piece.
