I am a Morning guy at a local radio station and a pipe smoker. I have found a very small number of pipe podcasts. A friend and fellow radio guy and I are thinking about putting together a podcast dealing with pipe smoking. My questions are these. A: Would this be something you would listen to? And B: What features would you like to hear on the cast?

I would definitely listen, you just have to tell me where to get it.

As far as content: pipes, collecting, artisan pipe makers, tobacco descriptions, history. The list is endless.

I am definitely interested. I have listened to This Week in Pipes, but it's doesn't exactly seem to be "weekly." I would love to have a podcast to listen to on a weekly basis.

I would as well. Tobacco reviews would be good, interviews with pipe makers and tobacco blenders would be cool. Maybe shout outs for upcoming events like the Chicago show or if someone has a regional get-together they want to announce.

I listen to this one too but it is just a bunch of college kids it sounds like. And they are wrong about most things. The Oom Paul podcast is great however. Interviews with pipemakers, reviews, products experiences etc. But I don't know if he is still doing it.

I listen to podcasts at least 8 hours of my 12 hour work shift and there is a void in the podcasting world that needs to be filled with pipe related stuff. Consider me a subscriber if you go forward with this.:th1:

I think this could be a really fun idea, you could do podcasts on all sorts of pipe related subjects!

    *History of tobacco
    *Pipe tobacco reviews, and thoughts
*Pipe tobacco explanations of types, and cuts
*Tobacco makers that have really helped the pipe community, and I don't mean 'big tobacco'

*History of pipes in general, clay, meerschaum, and briars
*History of cheroots, meerschaum cheroot holders, and their use
*History of briar, when was it discovered, who made the first briar pipes
*History of meerschaum, when was it discovered, who made the first meerschaum pipes

    *Loading a pipe
    *Smoking style and speed
    *Care for briar or meerschaum
*Cleaning practices for briar or meerschaum
*Tips on keeping the finish on the pipe looking its best
*Pipes in movies, famous actors that were pipe smokers
*Pipes smoked by famous people and what tobacco they enjoyed
*Other materials used for pipes, like morte, olive wood, or metal
*Talk about pipe stem materials through history
*Talk about pipe brands, how they started, are they still around, has their quality held up
*Pipe makers online, in forums, and youtube, maybe interviews with some

*Debate the facts of pipe tobacco use we face, like endless comparison to cigarettes
*Comments on safety while smoking, good habits, and ways to minimize mouth irritation
*Dangers of antique calabash pipes with asbestos bowls <-- this needs repeating every few months to inform new collectors

Just a few idea's I'm throwing out there! can think of more if needed. :D

I'd listen. Just as long as you're not a knobber that will put me to sleep like Bruno and his history of Balkan sobranie video. Man, I want to call that guy up and just say terrible things to him for no good reason. I would too- but the fear of hearing him pronounce one more syllable keeps me at bay.

MeerSteve through out some great suggestions.

Any way you could set up your broadcast to run on a Ustream account? That way you can interact with your listeners live via the chat room or social stream options there.
