When I got home from work last Thursday my wife informed me that we were leaving shortly to spend the weekend at a camp on Lake Placid, where childhood friends of hers were staying for the week. She had packed everything for me except pipes, as she didn't know which I wanted to take. I went to my office and stared at the rack for about a minute, and grabbed four pipes; a Tinsky bent billiard, a Squatch pot, an M de P bent bill, and a Radice bent bill.

My question to you - put yourself in similiar circumstances and tell me which of your pipes you would grab. I was actually kind of stressing about it when I was trying to decide, silly, but still it's an interesting exercise to run through. No more than four pipes, please.

An MM cob, Pete 408 and two more MM cobs. Two pouches of PA, two Zippos a small tin of fuel and I always keep spare flint in each lighter.

One of my meers, so that I could use it to smoke any of the blends I bring along.
One of my Peterson p-lip #69, which I use for english and balkans.
One of my Peterson fishtail #69, which I use for balkans and orientals.
One of my filtered pipes, probably the Aldo Morelli, which I use for condor and VaBurs.

Do I pass the quiz? https://pipesmokersforum.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/fpc.gif

    no-name billiard for the englishes
    laxey meer for anything else

all three of those fit in my smaller pipe kit, which i can load a few tools, a lighter, a weeks worth of tobacco and pipe cleaners in, and i've generally got at least one zippo two bics and a couple packs of matches spread around my person or my vehicle. grab a couple sandwich baggies full of tobacco and my rollup pouch and i'm golden.

I think the fact that you were going to campground would affect my choices:

    MM Cobs
    Falcon + 2 bowls

If I was going to a smoke friendly hotel / state I would prob bring:

    Radice Bark Billiard - VA
Radice Rind Bent Billiard - English
Sas Acorn - Oriental / Balkan

Well I have 9 pipes total and keep them in a small cooler that also has enough pipeweed for at least a week, plus basic cleaning supplies. Walk in, grab it and go. And if she gave me about 1 minute extra I could have my total pipe weed stash in the vehicle ready to go.

Going to a lake for two days. I’d bring a Stanwell 193, the same pipe I take fishing.

I have two Kaywoodie billiards, a 22 and a 29 that I'd take along with either PA or my kitchen blend of PA/CH/Cherry and some Spilman Mixture. I keep a lighter and pipe tool in a 2 pipe case that also has a tobacco pouch.

I gotta travel when we move the cattle from winter range to summer range and vis-versa...... I take my Hackert Cobs (4), a tin of Irish Flake and one of Escudo, two lighters, and the Rogders knife - that's it!

Three meers, my Dragon, the Laxley John Bull, and the wee billiard (gotta have my Condor). Then one of my briar bulldogs.
Tobacco would be Condor, PS LTF, Escudo and 5100/110. All this will fit in my 7-pipe travel case, along with lighters, pipe tools and pipe cleaners.

My basket weave meer (though taking a meer camping seems rather heinous).
Stanwell Hans Christian Anderson I (has both regular stem and churchwarden stem)
Majorca 1/4 bent Rhodesian (for trekking)
    3/4 bent Irish Second Billiard

i use to travel often, for work, not camping...

i'd probably grab my 4 pipe pouch, and the pipes inside would be:
BC Lovat - for GH lakelands
Sasieni 4dot Banker - for VaPers
    Larrysson Belge - for VaPers
    Stanwell Reg'd # Pot - for VaPers

probably bring a few VaPers and 1 Lakeland flake.

A couple of cobs never disappoint. I would have brought three cobs and one briar when I wanted a really long smoke when everyone has gone to bed.
