Looking to try Old Gowrie & Marlin Flake, but
TR states that both have perique. Can this be
confirmed? Not a perique fan, and don't want
to drop the coin if this has merit. Thanks for
    the help.

In a roundabout way, I wanted to get a couple
tins of the new Xmas release, and thought I'd
get a couple more tins I hadn't tried, but don't
want to buy more than 50gs worth in case I
    detest it. :thumbsd:

On TR it says on tin desciption of OG "This blend is a Virginia(with a hint of Perique) tobacco, rubbed-out for a finer cut.In my opinion it does not get much better than this!!"

    on MF:

    Contents:
    Cavendish
    Virginia
    Perique

I may be wrong but in my opinion neither of these blends have Perique in them, if they do have it is very very little...

Both Marlin and Old Gowrie provided the lucky smoker a full, rich, and sweet Va smoke. If you like SG FVF you will probably like Marlin and OG...

OG didn't really do it for me... it isn't baddddd.. nothing in there that'd jump out n bite ya, smokes easily enough, its just rather 2 dimentional throughout the bowl... I'd much rather have High Society than OG again, given the choice... particularly mellow, smells good enough in the tin to eat by the spoonfull...

I didn't notice Perique in Old Gowrie, either.

There are constant mixed messages about OG having perique or not. I haven't tried it yet, but came to the conclusion that if it has any in it, it is a very small amount. I suspect that the blend just seems to have a little perique, perhaps a touch of peppery flavor from the particular VA's in it.
