When I first discovered Dan Tobacco's Hamborger Veermaster, I was surprised at it's malty, molassys like goodness. It soon became a favorite, and I purchased 4 or 5 tins at a time. It was easy to locate, and I even found some deals from stores that wanted to get rid of inventory that hadn't moved.

I remember in January 2011 buying my first 1 pound bag of HV, and feeling a bit giddy over all the luscious flake in a big fat jar. I focused on adding other blends to the cellar, and kept thinking I was safe, with the 32 oz'er in the back of the cabinet. I was pacing myself (I thought) in my HV consumption, but one day a couple of months ago, I realized I was out of my small jars, tins, etc... all I had was the big jar. Yikes!

I ordered a couple of pounds in December, got the second pound and a couple of free tins last week. After canning the new bags, and putting them away, I felt a little relief. I'm nearly halfway there... just need to get to 5 to meet my goal.

Ahhh, love is in the air...

Looks nice.. I can't manage to get the labels off the tins so neatly so my jars don't look as nice.

Nice looking stash Brad. I bought a pound of the bulk when it first came back on the market and was not pleased at how there were so many broken flakes and shake in it. I decided to just buy the tins because I have had great success in how it ages. My 11 year old ones are fantastic. I decided to load up on them instead and I am up to 33 new ones in the cellar as of today.

I have two tins of this in waiting. After reading your description and seeing that photo, I am so tempted to crack one of those tins tomorrow!

I'm thinking of purchasing another bag after my last fail to make a pound. 2-3 pounds would do me. I've a ways to go. It's good stuff.

It does age nice in the tin. I don't mind the shake though, that's what I put in the babyfood jar. Whether its whole flake, broken or shake, it all tastes like candy to me.

I just got a tin, so your suggestion would be to let it age and maybe pick up some bulk later to try? I've never tried it but after threads like this, it's going to be difficult to keep that tin cellared.

I did, and it looked like a most enjoyable visit!

It's tastes very nice fresh, but does get better with age. Cellar the tin & smoke the bulk or the reverse, doesn't matter as long as you have some to smoke and some put away.

I love HV for two reasons . First , the stuff just rocks ! Second , I was smoking the heck out of it when My wife and I were dating ... she liked the way it and MB Mixture smelled , so I knew I was good to go :th1:
