I received my end of an across-the-pond trade today. Included in the package were three plugs of Revor. What can I say? I'm in love.

Sniffing the pouch aroma, I could swear there is Latakia in it. The description on TR.com says not, though. The pipe performance was perfect for me; strong, savory, and uncomplicated. There is a strong smoky note that is similar to Latakia. It burned dry with no bite at all, and I was as greedy as I've been in many moons.

So, I started this thread to hear from anyone else who has tried it. What are your thoughts? How did you like it? What is the leaf treatment that gives it that smoky taste and smell?

Also, is there anything similar available on this side of the pond?

This plug reminds me of the brown and black twists. Just not a fan. I suppose if I had a group 1 pipe that I could smoke a small bowl of this stuff infrequently I'd like it, but in a group 4 it's too much. Strong, cigar-y and turns quickly into a monotone droning that doesn't hold my attention or get me excited.

It takes all kinds, cake. You just described my "go to" blends. That's just what I love to smoke.

It absolutely does, or we'd all be smoking the same thing.

You didn't screen my friends well enough. Spillproof, RTOdhner, Jammer, Jeebs, cigarsarge, buistd, and DMKerr have a corrupting influence.

You got 3 plugs of Revor in your trade? Well done!
I had a small bit to try several months ago and yes indeed, a very good smoke! I've been tempted several times to order some up from MrSnuff. I enjoyed it almost enough to pay the premium it goes for...

Of all the G&H tobaccos marketed in the States I wonder why Revor isn't as well.

I'm wondering the same thing myself. If it were more readily available, it would find a significant role in my cellar. For now, it will have to be an occasional smoke.

Revor is a great blend, I love it a lot. I too wish it were available in the States. Great job on getting 3 plugs of it. I'm nursing the one I have as I want to have some around to smoke if I find the urge. Like you did, I taste something like Latakia in there even though there isn't supposed to be any in it. Kinda weird

Some component of it has been smoked in a similar process to Latakia. Hopefully, someone can shed some light for us. It's similar, but different. I would really like to try some more blends with that leaf as a condiment, whatever it is.

I would imagine it's some sort of dark fired, I don't think it's Kentucky though, doesn't taste like it anyway

Good to see you active again, mate!
I'll be receiving a sample of this in
the near future, so I'm looking forward
to giving it a go, and of course, stating
my humble opinion on it after a bowl
or two have been consumed. :th1:
