Been working 10 hrs all week so we don't have to work today. We have to work today! Went into the shop this morning to burn off some frustration and emerged with this....

This is a block that I'd started on for the last pipe, and ran into a major flaw. Tossed it on the bench and moved onto the next. This morning didn't want to risk a new block, being in a sour state of mind (it would be different if we needed to work, but we're totally caught up to the point of running out of material!). So I grabbed this one, what's the worst that could happen? lol. Fixed the flaw with superglue and briar dust. And started in on knocking away anything that didn't resemble a pipe. And finished with this....6" long, 1 and 3/4" tall. Bowl is 3/4" dia. by 1 and a half inches deep. Stain is Dark Brown with Light Brown over it.
So tonight when I'm at work, I'll be breaking in my Rhodesian and smiling. Time and a half to run 2 machines (we usually run 6) and a new pipe. Bless their heart, I guess they really showed me!

Nice one. I like that finer rustication type finish.

Sitting at work right now with some black cav burning in it! Nice smooth draw and very light, easy clincher.

If I can ask what did you use to get that texture?

I made a tool from a 5/16" slip pin. I'm at work right now and am on my kindle. I'll post a pic when I get home. And thanks all!
