Quit smoking for a few months to help the wife quit smoking cigs. Now I'm back at it and looking to make my first bowl glorious. So- what's the word? Any Esotericas available online these days? Here's what I'd like to dive back into:

    -Stonehaven (Smoked Once)
-Frog Morton On the Town (Never Had it)
    -Blackwoods Flake (Loved it)
-Irish Flake (Tried a Few Times w/ Fond Memories)

    Suggestions?

Good luck! Esoterica you can find periodically - there was a shipment recently, though, and it had been a while so it's mostly gone now. A few places have a few blends, but you aren't likely to find Stonehaven unless there's another shipment to the states soon.

FMOTT has it's fans, of course, but if you've never smoked it...hey, you might like it. I sure am not suggesting you wouldn't. But if I were in your shoes, I'd anticipate breaking my fast with something I already know I enjoy.

So, I'd say pick up a tin of Blackwoods Flake and Irish Flake. They changed the format of the IF, so if you remember it looking like a stick of gum, it's not likely to look like that anymore. But the blend should be essentially the same. Both of these are easy enough to find, so get a tin of each, and maybe one of FMOTT if you want to try it. I'm a big fan of Irish Flake, personally, so if it were me I know which of these I would try...but if it's been a few months of not smoking, it may well kick your butt!

I know that I can look it up, but what's the room note (for you & yours) on the IF?

Tobacco. Strong tobacco. It's not a bad tobacco smell, but I wouldn't recommend it as something to smoke to impress others with the aroma. Not that the others are aromatics or anything...but...it won't be anything special in terms of the room note.

    Go for the FM.
Rich, smooth, buttery Latakia to ease you back into things.

I'd do FMOTT not overpowering and very nice smooth smoke.

Welcome back to the dark side. The Frog Morton is a good choice, but all sound tasty.

When I have gone a couple weeks with little to no pipe smoking some of the stronger blends I love are just too much until I kinda get back in the groove. Not because of the nic but because of the flavor. If I have had to lay off a bit I seem to enjoy lighter blends more at first. I usually take advantage of my refreshed tongue to enjoy some straight virginias.

Got the FMOTT & it did not disappoint.
I was a little hesitant to jump right back into flakes or VA's- in fear of tongue bite.
But the Frog hit the spot- now what's next?;)

Have you tried Blue Mountain? I can always depend on that for a consistent enjoyable smoke. Blue Mountain runs deep in my cellar.
