I din't really appreciate the Virginias until I tried some Dunhill flake last night+ my wife liked the aroma. So- what else can you suggest as far as a VA flake that's reasonably priced- maybe bulk?

I loved C&D's stuff, and noticed that they have Bayou Morning flake, but I'm a little worried that the Perique may throw off the aroma equation: Wife + Perique= no good?

I highly recommend Peter Stokkebye Luxury Navy Flake. If you like Dunhill Flake, you love PS LNF...especially when you see the price. I also recommend trying all three colors of the Wessex Virginia Flakes. It will give you a tour of what the different types of VA taste like. And lastly, but most importantly get some Samuel Gawith Best Brown Flake. SG BBF = nirvana. :toast: Happy hunting!

+1 on PS LNF BTW I love Dunhill Flake or GAF as we love to call it. It's one of my favorites. If you do decide to add the perique, try Escudo. It's awesome.:D

+1 .... also , if you're wanting to add a slight mild aro to a Virginia , PS Lux Twist Flake cant be beat ! Another flake that has a mild Aro to it , and is unreal good , is SG Fire Dance ! You have to let it sit out

Gotcha, thanks guy! Another bonus I noticed with the Dunhill flake was that after smoking, my mouth didn't taste horrible, as I find with most lats and aros.

You might want to sample McClelland bulk #2000 Fragrant Matured Cake or #5115 Old World Classic Cake.

5115 sounds good- I think I've had a sample. Does this come in full flakes or crumbled up a bit?

McClelland 2010 is an excellent Va but needs a little time to bring out the best of it. GLP Union Square (8oz) is another good one.

C&D Bayou Morning is Perique heavy (25% apparently) & nic high. And it's not a flake.

Also consider some of the C&D Va flakes in the 8oz tins. There are some good ones.

Next question: What C&D and McClelland flakes do you guys think are closest all-around to Dunhill flake?

If you can get your hands on some, McCranie's Red Flake is pretty good stuff.

Reiner's Long Golden Flake is probably my favorite VA. Sure, I have escudo, union square, Boston 1776 and FVF all cellared away- but damn if I don't smoke LGF the most.

It has a smidgen of perique, but it's barely noticeable.
