My OCD is not letting me enjoy my pipes. I need to take a break for smoking and from being on the forum. Its not you guys, its me lol.

I've always been curious about OCD. Can it be treated? Is the treatment chemical or is it all talking to a shrink? Not making fun, just genuinely curious.

    Hope you feel better soon.

It can be treated both ways. Unfortunately even with treatment I can't smoke a pipe once a week without being all OMG I'm getting cancer etc. So I'll revisit it later on. If I'm on here, I'll keep doing it and get trapped in a loop.

"Its not you its me" I've heard that before! ;)
Asking for and getting help is a brave thing to do. I hope you find the way that works best for you.

Best of luck from one sufferer to another. I just remain thankful that I haven't had that obsessive thought yet. If I get it, I'm blaming you! ha. Johnny, the strangest thing that I've noticed about OCD, is that it morphs over time. Almost like a resistant strain of virus, it adapts and changes (at least in my case) as you age. I've been blessed with a "manageable" level, not one that would leave me trapped in my house for days. I think treatment is a case by case basis because everyone reacts differently, and everyone I've met has a form that is unique to them.

I won't wish you luck, because that makes it sounds like you only have a random chance of getting better. I will wish you perseverance and patience. You can and will get through this.
