What blends do you find are just awful for ghosting a pipe?

I recently bought my first oz. of Ennerdale Flake and have smoke bowls in a couple of pipes. I think I'm going to have to do the salt/alcohol thing just to get them back to normal. Everything has that soapy note to it. Easily worse than any latakia blend I've smoked in a Va. dedicated pipe.

    What about you?

I agree with your assessment of the Ennerdale ghost, but it fades 5x faster than the Condor ghost.

Ennerdale. Took a complete ream and many many bowls to get that out of my Ceppo.

But why would you want to remove a sweet Casper like that?

Nothing awful in the least about a Condor ghost, IMHO. In fact, a bowlful of FVF or JKP or even a good VaPer like Bullseye or Triple Play from a heavenly...err, that's heavily Condor ghosted pipe is about as close to the sublime as you're likely to get on this plane of existence. Absolute smoking perfection.

For the truly awful, I'de nominate any of hundreds of sickly sweet vanilla aromatics. Shower of :poop: IMO. :puke::puke::puke:

Ennerdale is disappointing, but I like their Grasmere.

    Indeed! This is why
    I dedicate pipes to
    blends such as these.
    My suggestion is, get
    several cobs for blends
you know will have a ghost,
    Determine if you like the
    blend, then live happily
    ever after.

So that was a bit of a
    tangent. To answer the
    OP question,

    Condor - for sure!
    Ennerdale - yum!!
    St. Bruno - also yum.

i have a sav estate, kinda a prince or diplomat, sweet pipe for $30, that just REEKED of old cheap cherry. took two reams (my first time reaming a pipe, so the first one was cautious), three salt treatments, and a stem bath, and it still stuck around. so, just dedicated it to the fullest Lat-bombs i have. seems to work now. o)

Ennerdale was my first thought when I saw the title also! Really not a fan, so naturally I wasnt pleased when it decided to enhabit one of my briars after only a couple of smokes (wanted to give it a chance but it just wasnt happening). Took a LONG time to get rid.

Erinmore Flake. I will swear on a stack of bibles that stuff ghosted one of my pipes for over two years.

    Condor is a 600-volt ghost in a 12-volt world.

Ennerdale is an evil ghost maker for sure, but so is Grousemoore. I love Grousemoore, so its nto a big deal, but in my smooth Pete 302 system my first 10-20 bowls were Grousemoore, then i started using it for more general virginias and VaPers.. i've smoked countless bowls from it and reamed it atleast twice and that Grousemoore sauce is still there.

Not a thing wrong with it. I smoke quite a few heavy ghosters: Condor, Ennerdale, Grasmere, Grousemoor, St Bruno, etc. I like what they impart to later bowls of straight Virginias and VaPers. Some of the ghosts don't play so nicely with one another, though. Example, Grousemoor really dislikes Condor.

I ghosted a lovely Peterson Red Fish tail spigot on SG 1972! I loved that pipe and now it only see action when I can work up the courage to smoke the 1792. ARG! I need to create a list of tobaccos that will ghost so I won't unwillingly dedicate another pipe to a specific blend!
