As some of you will remember - on my trip to Turkey in October, I picked up one or two new pipes. They have all been smoked quite frequently, except for this one - which I brought into service for the first time just this week. Once again I am reminded of the unpredictable nature of meerschaum colouring, some of mine stay white for ages, while others seem to darken with each bowl smoked. This one has been smoked a few times this week, and looks set to colour like there is no tomorrow!. It's a bit larger than my regular pipes, and that's probably a reason I've put off it's christening so long, but I shall now persevere with it, out of curiousity - to see just how quickly the colour develops!. BTW the clip-on lid was needed in my yard today.....high winds are back here!:(

That's a beautiful pipe. The Army(esque?) mount looks great!

And you've reminded me I should purchase a windcap when I go to the tobacconists tomorrow.

They're hard to find of late. I have one like yours that's stamped "Whitecross," but haven't seen one for sale in years.
