Recently cracked open a tin of McClellands FMOTT and almost finished a full bowl before I realized something was amiss. It tasted absolutely wonderful - and very much like another McClellands blend in my rotation - but not like FMOTT. Didn't look like it, either.

It didn't take long for me to realize that they packaged their Anniversary mixture in a FMOTT tin. I'd complain except 1) I like them both a lot and, 2) Anniversary is much more expensive and I got it at the FMOTT price. :D

    Sometimes mistakes don't hurt!

(Now if I had gotten FMOTT in an Anniversary tin, there'd be hell to pay.... )

I don't mind too much when that sort of thing happens to me. Usually I just look at it as an opportunity to try a blend I wouldn't have otherwise ever tasted. I've order Solani Green Label and been sent Sillems Green Label. Solani is good stuff but Sillems Green Label tastes like pina colada :puke: Also, Ive ordered Reiner Copper Label and been sent Reiner Gold Label but that turned out ok.

I don't recall well, but I think St. James Flake got into FVF tins. Somebody help me out.

No harm, no foul; but you should probably let them know, if they don't already. I'm sure that in their gratitude, they'll send you some FMOTT.

So, let's assume this was the brown wax Anniversary, and it was good right out of the tin? Excellent stuff to know, Dan.

It happens. Some months ago I was looking at Dan Tobacco assortment and decided to order Hamborger Beermaster from them. I ordered two tins of HB and two tins of FVF. HB tins came with some Latakia blend in both of them.

It's great when you receive a tin and the contents in that tin are what they're supposed to be. But what if you order Solani Green Label and they put Sillems Green Label tobacco in it, except you don't KNOW it's the Sillems? :D I was fortunate enough to be familiar with both tobaccos in my case. If I hadn't, I'd be on here complaining that FMOTT changed!

I think they put a latakia blend into the SJF tins. At least that's my recollection.

As a sidenote, my first tin of SJF... I had read a bunch of reviews that said SJF was full of perique but I could barely taste any. Then I heard about a problem with SG putting a straight VA in the SJF tins. Smoked another a year or so later and still found it light in the perique. Oh, well....

The tin was 2 years old when I opened it. The FMOTT tin, I mean... with the Anniversary in it. Does that align with the brown wax version?

If I know Mike, he'd simply respond with "Oh, stop whining, ya baby!". :ohyh:
