They are still one of my top 5. My take is, quality dipped slightly since they became more popular. I've had a few which weren't nearly as good as that first roll-out year

I always fear that as "new" product lines are introduced, machinery and personnel are reorganized.

New Oliva V, the Melanio. Nice stick, definitely quite peppery for an Oliva product. The pepper tapers off as you smoke it, though, and the flavor profile becomes more muted. This one might be a bit young, really. It would probably improve a lot with age, but my to-buy list is too long to accommodate it right now. Glad I tried it, though, and I'll probably revisit it. It sure is a nice looking cigar. :)

I would like to get my hands on a few of those as I'm a little obsessed with V's and V Maddy's.

It is quite different from the V and the V Maduro, that's for sure. Jalapa Nicaraguan filler and binder wrapped in Ecuadorian Sumatra. I think the V Maduro is still my favorite Oliva product, but yeah, you should try these. All the B&Ms here are full of them right now, and they seem to be selling like hotcakes.

Yeah, I should stress that the one I smoked was quite young. It had only been in the B&M's humidor for about a week. I bet it will be tasty as hell in a couple months.

A brown label Tatuaje from gentimmy! Sorry no photo. I liked it. Also, this is the first time I've posted in the "Todays Stogie".

Same thing I think of the V maduro. Excellent cigar and a really nice special occasion treat. A different take on a wonderful brand/cigar. Worth $14 each at my shop? No. Worth $7-9 when they relax in price on the internet, sure. I would buy a 10 box of V maddy and a 10 box of these if the price was similar.

Really like what they did with the sumatra wrapper and it adds a different dimension. Regular V at $5 are still my favorite for price/quality/taste but they did themselves proud with this cigar.

I fondled a few of the Melanios last weekend and they were very tempting. They were priced in the $14 range too so I passed but they really are a great looking cigar. An Oliva V with a Sumatra wrapper sounds really really good.

Enjoying a mild and flavorful El Triunfador No.4

Damn, $14? That's MBIII prices. I only paid like $9. I do go to a really great cigar shop, though. Actually, I paid more like $8, but I smoked a smaller vitola because I was a bit short on time. I'd be interested to see how it does in a larger vitola, because this one had a good bit of wrapper pop to it, and I think it could have been more well balanced if it was a bit larger.
